A CPD@Leisure presentation is a pre-recorded presentation that will be available for a limited period.

Once you have registered for a CPD@Leisure presentation, you will receive, within one business day, a link where you can watch the presentation at your leisure. Your time online and attentiveness will be recorded and the same conditions apply here as with attending a live presentation.

At the expiry of the presentation's availability online, the attendance register will be downloaded from the system, and CPD certificates issued to those who successfully completed the requirements for an online CPD presentation (see below)

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ATTENDING ONLINE PRESENTATIONS (WEBINARS)

The issuing of a CPD-certificate is subject to an attentiveness rating and minimum time online.

A minimum online time of 75% (for workshops available until 30 September 2021 it will be 90% as the opportunity is there to watch it multiple times) of the total session time is required before certificates can be issued. As the issuing of certificates is subject to auditing, no exceptions to the above requirement will be entertained.

An attentiveness rating of a minimum of 75% is required. This rating is negatively influenced by having other applications open on computers whilst attending a webinar. Please close all other applications and refrain from opening them during a session.

FUNDAMENTALS OF SUSTAINABLE URBAN DESIGN ACCORDING TO FRIEDMAN

AVAILABLE UNTIL 23:59

ON 31 AUGUST 2021

via

GO-TO-WEBINAR

ALLOW ± 5 HOURS TO COMPLETE

(CAN BE DONE IN SECTIONS AT YOUR LEISURE)

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This virtual workshop will contribute to the continuing development of the architectural professional by providing further mobility and transportability within the field of applying and understanding principles of sustainable urban design (Professional Competency: Architectural Design, Contextual and Urban Relationships).

Fundamental global and local social changes bring about a need to rethink urban design strategies and align them along sustainable principles. Past approaches no longer sustain new demands of innovation. The need for a new outlook is propelled by environmental, social, and economic transformations in large and small communities.

However, it has remained a considerably unknown subject in the arenas of public and policy discourses.

The depletion of nonrenewable natural resources, elevated levels of greenhouse gas emissions, and climate change are a few of the environmental challenges. They force urban designers to reconsider conceptual approaches in favor of ones that promote a better suitability between communities and nature.

Consideration of overall planning concepts that minimize a development’s carbon footprint by including district heating, considering passive solar gain, promoting local renewable energy production, and preserving the site’s natural assets are some strategies that architectural professionals and builders are integrating into their thought process and practice.

This workshop is based on the recently published book: "Fundamentals of Urban Design" by Avi Friedman.

INTERIOR DESIGN À LA FRANCIS D K CHING

AVAILABLE UNTIL 23:59

ON 31 AUGUST 2021

via

GO-TO-WEBINAR

ALLOW ± 5 HOURS TO COMPLETE

(CAN BE DONE IN SECTIONS AT YOUR LEISURE)

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This virtual workshop will contribute to the continuing development of the architectural professional by providing further mobility and transportability within the field of applying and understanding principles of interior design as part of architectural design (Professional Competency: Architectural Design).

We spend the majority of our lives indoors, in the interior spaces created by the structures and shells of buildings. These spaces provide the physical context for much of what we do and give substance and life to the architecture that houses them.

The goal of interior design education is to prepare, in our case, architectural professionals, to be responsible, well-informed, and skilled to make beautiful, safe, and comfortable spaces that respect the earth and its resources.

The field of interior design encompasses both visual and functional design, as well as basic knowledge of building materials, construction, and technology. This workshop on interior design is therefore broad in scope. The intent, nevertheless, is to treat the subject with clarity, make it as accessible as possible, and stimulate further in-depth study and research.

This workshop is based on the book: "Interior Design Illustrated" by Francis D K Ching.

DURATION AND CPD:

The virtual workshop is an one (1) day workshop that will start at 09:00 and end at approximately 15:30.

VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE IN THE 21ST CENTURY

AVAILABLE UNTIL 23:59

ON 31 AUGUST 2021

via

GO-TO-WEBINAR

ALLOW ± 5 HOURS TO COMPLETE

(CAN BE DONE IN SECTIONS AT YOUR LEISURE)

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This virtual workshop will contribute to the continuing development of the architectural professional by providing further mobility and transportability within the field of applying and understanding principles of architectural history and theory regarding vernacular architecture (Professional Competency: Architectural Design, Architectural History, Theory, and Precedent).

Vernacular architecture is a nineteenth-century invention. As a category of scholarship, its presence has been consolidated in courses and research programmes in the academy in the last two decades of the twentieth century.

However, it has remained a considerably unknown subject in the arenas of public and policy discourses.

  • What would vernacular architecture for the twenty-first century look like?

  • Will the discussion of it be different or more influential? Will vernacular architecture simply disappear?

  • Or will everything simply be classified as vernacular

These are the challenges of vernacular architecture in the twenty-first century and this workshop, based on the book "Vernacular ARchitecture in the Twenty-First Century" edited by Lindsay Asquith and Marcel Vellinga, attempts to address some of them.

DURATION AND CPD:
