Roelf was born and raised in Bethlehem, Free State. He studied architecture at Pretoria Technikon; during that time, he moved to the West Rand and has since lived in the Krugersdorp area. He started his career as a property valuer at ABSA for ten years, after which he became a partner in a small computer company for two years. In 2000, he, he started his own business, doing small- to medium-scale construction work and providing architectural services. He registered with SACAP in 2006 as architectural technologist and joined SAIAT in 2011. Roelf was married for over 30 years and has one daughter. He enjoys the occasional ballroom dance and the great outdoors, including camping and hiking.

Unathi, recently qualified, was the SAIAT Student Bursary Student in 2022, and from Student Ambassador has work her way up to become the Regional Chairperson of the Freestate.

Jannette qualified as an architectural professional from Technikon Witwatersrand and Wits University. She relocated to Cape Town in 2017 and started a practice there. She cohabits with her mother. Jannette enjoys running, cycling and painting and does voluntary work for the Hout Bay Community. Spare time is spent with her German shepherds.

Pierre is based in Port Elizabeth, married and has two sons and four legged kids. Pierre is very vocal on the abuse of the profession. With the Port Elizabeth chapter he focus on having the members realise that SAIAT is there for everybody. Professionals should help each other where they can, not to be selfish with information, and share their expertise gathered over the years. He started his architectural career in 1994, followed in 2001 with his own construction company. After 12 years in the game, he stopped construction to pursue his main passion of design for the residential market.

Nadine describes herself as an enthusiastic, passionate, and progressive architectural professional. With years of experience under her belt, she can bring technical, functional and off-the-grid designs to life. She takes pride in helping her clients realise their architectural dreams. In 1987, Nadine decided to branch out and start her own business, Malls Design. She began with small additions and projects in the Midrand area. As of June 2020, she has done work in KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Botswana. No project is too small or big.

Leroy was born in Kimberley but raised in a small mining town called Orapa in Botswana. He is a Senior Architectural Technologist who obtained his BTech Degree at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He runs a small practice in Kimberley, Northern Cape. He is married and has two sons. He enjoys camping, adventure biking and is an avid Vespa enthusiast. He joined SAIAT in 2008 and became actively involved with SAIAT in 2020.

Marius, the father of two daughters, studied architecture at the Tshwane University of Technology. A senior member of SAIAT and a Senior Architectural Technologist, Marius moved back to George a few years ago, after a short stay in Klerksdorp. He has his own architectural practice in George. Marius was elected as a director at the beginning of 2017.

Gerrit is a registered Professional Architectural Technologist (PrArchT) and has been involved in the architectural and construction industry for the past 37 years. He began his career in 1989 and has gained experience across the built environment, from architectural design and technical detailing to construction, manufacturing, specifications, and management. He obtained his National Diploma in Architecture from what is now known as the Tshwane University of Technology and has been actively involved in architectural practice since 1992. For the past 28 years, he has also been part of Global Roofing Solutions (GRS), where he has held several technical and management roles and currently serves as the National Projects and Specifications Manager. Alongside this, he continues to practise as a Professional Architectural Technologist through his practice, GDT ArchTech. One thing that has always given him great satisfaction is seeing a fellow professional appreciate and get excited when something he shares helps them understand a technical challenge or find a solution to a problem they have been struggling with. That is what sharing knowledge is all about. It is not simply about what you know, but what you can do with that knowledge to help someone else.

Sharon was born in Port Elizabeth and raised in Durban and studied at the old Technikon Natal. She is a registered Professional Senior Architectural Technologist and has run her own practice in Kloof since 1999. She has been a long-standing member of SAIAT and an active National Committee member since 2009. In 2026 she became the Vice President of SAIAT. She is married to Marcel, a fellow National Committee member and they have two adult sons. Keeping Architecture and creativity in the family, her eldest son lives in Dublin, where he also works as an Architectural Technologist and her younger son is a Graphic Designer. In her free time, she enjoys working in the garden, reading, camping, and face timing her granddaughter Kaya, in Dublin.

Russel is a proud East Londoner who studied architecture at the old Port Elizabeth Technicon. He is a Senior Architectural Technologist with a practice in East London. Married with two boys he loves to fish, ride motor cross and to hang out with the family.
