Leroy was born in Kimberley but raised in a small mining town called Orapa in Botswana. He is a Senior Architectural Technologist who obtained his BTech Degree at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He runs a small practice in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

He is married and has two sons. He enjoys camping, adventure biking and is an avid Vespa enthusiast.

He joined SAIAT in 2008 and became actively involved with SAIAT in 2020. He is the SAIAT regional chairperson for the Free State, Northern Cape & North West region and Kimberley Chapter chair-person.
